  • Let's start with the good stuff. The location is pretty good, about 10 minutes walk to the metro station and a lot of food places. The kitchen and pub area downstairs are pretty large. The kitchen is well equipped and gets cleaned regularly. The Wi-Fi is really good. There are extra washrooms and showers on the individual levels in caee the one in your room is occupied. Most of the staff is pretty friendly and helpful at the reception. The hostel offers various activities every day. The rooms and breakfast were decent but not extraordinary. Pretty average. What bothered me though was that the pub are downstairs always seemed to be occupied by staff members. Most nights a group of employees would sit at the bar and leave barely any space for guests that might want to get drinks. When not currently working behind the reception or bar some of the staff seemed unfriendly and rude towards guests. Overall I would definitely recommend the HI-Hostel MontrĂ©al, just don't expect too much friendliness from the staff.
