  • So the honey-vanilla latte was amazing. Not too sweet, amazing espresso, phenomenal milk (straus is GREAT milk). I would have loved to engage with the barista about what they used to flavor it. My husband got a cold brew, which was decent. The half and half was old. Like warmer than room temperature warm. Like give you diarrhea warm. The three people working were what really killed it for us. The guy working the register was on his phone non-stop the entire time we were there (probably a total of 30-40 minutes). When he wasn't on his phone, he was picking his teeth. Yum. The barista--who made my delicious latte--spent too much time scratching her hair, face, etc. Luckily I didn't notice this until after I drank my latte. I know this probably sounds like I sit around and wait for people to do gross things while handling my food. It's funny because I normally wouldn't even focus on something like that, it's just that the staff was so far into lala land that is was distracting. As a third-wave coffee fan, I was excited to check the place out. It's distributors are top-knotch (though I will say, the scone we ordered was pretty lackluster) but the blasé attitude of the staff (as well as the constant face-touching) was a total turn-off. There is a hand sink right there! If you've got to pick your teeth, face, hair, etc in front of your patrons, WASH YOUR FREAKING HANDS IN FRONT OF THEM! We sat in the cafe for a considerable time while the staff bullshitted behind the counter. Nobody came through the floor, nobody checked the WAY expired breve, nobody emptied trash cans or asked the multiple patrons how they were doing. They were there to socialize. I never did figure out if the third person back there was actually on the clock, as she didn't move from her spot next to the sink the entire time we were there. The staff was so into their own world it was distracting. A couple of guys came in (one holding an apron so we assumed he worked there) didn't actually seem to buy or order anything but leaned so far over the customer side of the counter they were practically laying across it (you know, right there next to the pretty little displays of pastries) while chatting with the oblivious teeth-picking employees. My husband even said, "It would kill me to be the one paying those people by the hour!" Ultimately, I'm leaving this review because somebody is paying these people to ruin their beautiful coffee shop and they deserve to know what's happening when they're not around.
