  • A group of us went out this past Sunday with the Blazin' Paddles half day tour and I am already planning to go again before the end of summer. ** I went on my second half day tour again today- 9/11/16** Booking online was easy and getting an email confirmation and reminder of what to wear and what to bring was nice. I arrived at the office in Henderson at 11:00 to sign paperwork and once our group was ready, we were driven in a very nice van to Willow Beach Marina in Arizona. (25804 N Willow Beach Rd, Willow Beach AZ 86445). Once at the beach we were given some time to get some snacks at the store, use the bathroom, change into our kayaking "gear", and apply the much necessary sunscreen. We walked down the sidewalk to the beach where we were greeted by our 2 guides. We were given safety directions and the guides made sure we had our life vests with us. They helped us adjust the foot rests in our kayaks and we were off! The wind was no help on this day and it ended up being too much of a challenge for myself and a few others in the group and when the guides noticed our frustrations and difficulty maneuvering the single kayaks they gave us theirs and we doubled up. We stopped along the way to take in the breathtaking views and to rest and to swim. We were given plenty of water and snacks. The guides were super friendly and patient. They were very enthusiastic and helpful when it came to our lack of knowledge of basic kayaking skills. Some tips for the trip: *Take the minimum with you. Hat, sunscreen, water, snacks, waterproof case for your phone. *Wear water shoes or tennis shoes. Flip flops are not safe or sturdy. *Prepare to get wet. You may even fall overboard so pack lightly. ----You may even lose your bag in the water like one of our members did--- :( *You have the option to take your own vehicle and meet the group at Willow Beach. That way you are free to explore the beach after the tour or go into Boulder City for a meal. Just make sure to be there on time. * Skip your upper body workout the day before your tour. You don't want your arms, shoulders, or back to be sore while you are rowing. * Cell service is almost non existent so don't freak out. * Bring some cash to tip your guides. They offer half day, full day, and even full moon tours. I may get some more kayaking practice under my life vest and go for the full day tour in the future.
