| - Oh, my.
I will admit that I have purchased from Ashley in the distant past and -- for the most part-- I've been happy with my purchases. Well, I went in there today for this very reason while looking for a new bedroom set, and was I ever surprised.
Their furniture has dropped in quality and workmanship considerably since my last purchase. Everything seemed "fake", or factory made and of the type of quality that it wouldn't stand the test of time-- rickety drawers, faux wood finishes and/or pressed wood, "vegan leather" (which, back in the day, yo, I called "pleather"), etc. For the price you're going to spend here, head down the street to Thomasville. You might spend a little more (a few hundred bucks), but in the long run, you'll have a classic set of furnishings that will last.
Here's how you know you're getting good quality:
Walk into the furniture store and inhale deeply. You should smell wood and leather. If you don't, you're probably at Ashley Furniture.
