I was about to be stranded in Chicago overnight as my flight to Champaign was first cancelled and then my rebooked fight was delayed and delayed all day until it was cancelled at 10pm. Ugh. But luckily, we still had time to make the 10:30 shuttle down to Champaign. I had cash so opted to pay the driver the $30 instead of trying to log on via my phone to purchase online ($33).
It is easy to find the bus/shuttle center from the terminal- just follow the signs. Peoria Chater leaves out of Door 4 for regional shuttles. There is a sign outside - line up there. First to load = passengers with prepurchased tickets for that trip. Second = passengers with prepurchased tickets, but for another time that day ($10 change fee). Third = everyone else. Even though you pay cash, the driver can give you a number and you can call the office to get a receipt. Make sure to have pen and paper handy. Or a notes function on your phone at hand.
Bags can be secured under the bus. There is also overhead storage. Two outlets at each set of two seats. Yay. Free wifi. Double yay. Toilet on board. Triple yay. Our driver was very nice. Please do tip your driver at the end of the night if you had a good ride. Everyone on our trip was going to Champaign so we didn't have to stop in other cities. Woot. A very nice ~2 hour drive from O'Hare to Champaign. Since many folks on the bus were travelling due to cancelled flights, some had rental cars awaiting at the Willard Airport. Our driver made a special trip out to airport to drop folks off. How nice. Worked well for me since the airport is close to my parents' house.
I would definitely use Peoria Charter again. Granted, I may be in for a longer trip on future travels depending on where everyone is going, but it really was a breeze. Since travel to O'Hare is so much cheaper than my hometown, my dad suggested that I make this a regular thing to save money. I definitely will think about it. Thanks for getting me home safe!
