I was usually a gel manicure kind of person but recently discovered the SNS gel powder. I've had it done 2 previous times at a different salon each time it was great quick (30mins) and affordable. But this salon is in the same parking lot as my office and I thought how great it would be to have a salon I could go to in between clients or before grabbing kids at school. (my other salon is near the 101 in Peoria.) I walked in and asked if they had any availability next appointment was 30 minutes away 1:30 which was fine I had to grab my daughter at 2:30 so I figure 30 minutes for my manicure I'll be out the door by 2. I was seated and manicure started at 1:25 shortly after my technician got started a woman sat next to me to get a gel manicure she asked me what service I was receiving and I proceeded to explain and sell her on SNS manicure but as my manicure went on I could see things weren't going as they should. First she had sanded down my nails so super thin I had no choice but to get some sort of manicure done to protect my nails from breaking then the bottom coat was peeling away from my nail after she put on the first coat of nutrient powder I didn't say much because I knew it could be fixed by the next layer of powder. fast-forward her taking an extremely long time and making mistakes she would have to go back and fix, 2:15 hits the clock and only one hand is done. The lady next to me getting her gel manicure is done. She started after me and ended before me. I told her not to take this as an example of all SNS manicures. normally theyre quick and done very well. I was personally just having a bad experience. My technician tried to complete my other hand in the 15 minutes I had before needing to pick up my daughter I basically ended it at 2:35 and said just put on the topcoat I need to go. so my nails were not cured under the UV light at the end like they're supposed to I did not have time nor was she really done with the whole manicure. When I went to pay she only charged me 20. I guess she knew she hadn't done a good job. But really that's not the point I very rarely find time between my 2 jobs and 2 kids to take care of myself and when I do it's precious valuable time. I didn't have time to sit there and argue with a manager on how bad my manicure was to have somebody redo it. she spent one hour and 15 minutes on me when it should've only taken 30 minutes to begin with. Once I picked up my daughter and looked at my nails I could see that all of them were filed unevenly. I go for the round look and one side of my nail would be round the other side would be diagonally filed down it was weird. one side of all of my nails were filed down too sharply my manicure is bumpy on the top and cloudy. Even my 9 yr old thought it looked horrible. The next day I noticed they had a yellow tint to them. I assume from not being cured. And then later in the day one of them chipped. Sad to say I won't be going back. I was really hoping I'd like this place.
