| - My husband and I went several months back with a large group and paid $20 each but were able to get the Hero package for both of us; we were really excited about the idea of the experience but were really underwhelmed by the execution. Our ride on the zombie-slaying truck was fun and our guides were great and funny (even if they were intimidating at times, but they're in character so I get it), but for a group as large as ours (20+ people) I believe there were only ~6 zombie actors; we kept seeing the same people that we JUST shot over and over and over again, and there were very long periods of not seeing anyone to shoot (haha). One would think if they know a large group is coming in, they'd get more actors.
My husband's gun kept jamming up and other times he lost ammo because, regardless of how hard he pushed his clip in, it would fall out. We got nowhere near close to reloading our clips because of how few zombies there were to actually shoot, and only did so as a precautionary measure at the very very end where the whole group "saves the world," (just spraying the same zombies we've already seen for a few minutes). There were so many people firing and so few zombies that you didn't really know if you hit anybody either.
My goggles kept fogging up, which made it very unpleasant (not a ding against them though; they can't control that $#!t. Just complaining about the goggles in general); I was worried I'd either 1) trip over someone or something because I couldn't see, or 2) would risk my eye-safety taking them off just to get them to clear up (carefully of course, and our guide at the time did help once).
Also, the entire time we were playing, we were highly encouraged to gather clues as to what caused the outbreak we were fighting, but we did absolutely nothing with the information... Felt really pointless. It would have been much more interesting if we as groups had to collaborate to solve some sort of puzzle at the end, but we ended up "diffusing a bomb" that really our guides did for us, which felt strange to have a bomb in a zombie game.
Overall, for the experience we did get, we felt $20 was just right, but we would never pay $200 EACH for what we ended up getting, which was supposedly the top of the line package. I realize that since we were a large group maybe the number of available actors were spread thin or we were rushed, but I expected a lot more out of this; and truthfully, I feel very strange posting this amidst almost all glowing reviews and because I liked the staff so much, but this is what we experienced.
TL;DR: The concept is very very cool, but it needs some tweaking for big groups at least, and maybe further the idea more to have it make more sense.
