  • We stayed at the Tropicana because it is across the street from one of the pick ups points for EDC shuttles. We had a reservation from Thursday-Monday and a reservation from Monday-Thursday. Upon check in (as a Hilton Honors member) we were told that the 2 reservations were combined and we did not need new keys half way through the stay. I was also told that I was on the reservation along with my boyfriend. They checked my ID, and I was added to the system. We also had breakfast included, and were upgraded to the bungalows. The problem is the bungalows do not have a microwave, or mini fridge or anything to promote food storage. This is a huge inconvenience. In addition to the lack of food storage options, we encountered a problem on Monday. I was at the pool for an hour or so to allow housekeeping to come by. When I went back to my room, my key did not work. I went to the front desk and was told that I was not on the reservation and we needed 2 new keys, because the reservation was back-to-back. This was NOT what we were told upon checking in. Because I could not get a hold of my boyfriend at the time, I had no choice but to wait in the lobby by the casino in my bathing suit. *How embarrassing!* When I was finally allowed a new set of keys, they did not work, so I had to go back to get new ones. I was told that we were being comped $50 in drinks. Not impressed because we were told that we were getting that when we checked in, so that is not new, it is not an addition to the $50 we were already given. They also decided I needed a security escort, not sure why, who walked me not only to the elevator but to the room. I'd love to know why! I'd already been here 4 days. Housekeeping had not come in 2 days,we were out of towels, and toilet paper. At three in the afternoon, I called down to housekeeping and I was assured that they maids were still making their rounds. I called at 4:30, and was assured that they were sending someone up to restock the room, and was assured that they would come by before noon tomorrow. I called again at 5:30, and I told them that this was my third call to housekeeping and was told that someone was on their way. Again, no one came so my boyfriend and I packed up out things and decided that we are not staying. Today has been hell. On out way out, housekeeping came, at 6:20, more than 3 hours after I first called. We decided to stay because it wasn't that poor girl's fault, she came all the way up here. She left us extra towels and waters. While she was cleaning, we went to the casino and played the slots for 30 minutes or so to kill time. On our way back up, the keys did not work again! This is the third set of keys that failed to open doors.After waiting 20 minutes in line for registration, we got another set of keys, and those ones did not work wither. 4 sets of keys in one day that do not work. At this point, we are trying to decide if we are going to stay or check out in the morning. This has not been a pleasant experience. This resort has failed in every possible. Update (6/26): Following my previous review, one of the managers, Ray called and apologized and offered us $100 toward dinner and another $50 towards drinks. He also took off our resort fees. The following night, we had a very nice dinner at Bacio. When we checked out the day after, only $50 had been applied toward dinner so we shelled out another $55 out of pocket to cover the rest. Not cool Ray, if you tell me you are comping us $100 for dinner, we expect $100 to be applied toward dinner, not half of what was promised. That dinner alone cost us more than we would have spent on regular dining.
