  • Three fuel filters and a fuel hose changed left me $812 poorer. You decide whether or not I was taken advantage of. I understand the fact that my car is considered a luxury car and it is several decades old, but even an imbecile would think something unscrupulous is going on when the quoted fee is so high for something so minor as basic maintenance like fuel filters. This is not to mention the three days it took them to diagnose a 'fuel delivery issue." To further explain why the reason the bill was so high for such a relatively minor issue was because I was charged for 3 hours of labor, with labor being charged a premium for a name-brand European car no matter where you get it fixed. However, I think this shop exaggerated the amount of time they spent fixing up my car in order to inflate the total bill. If you know anything about cars, you decide whether it really takes 3 hours to change the fuel filters and replace a hose, even on a "complicated," "specialty," "European" vehicle. To improve the credibility of their practice, I would suggest that they credit the $100+ diagnosis fee towards work done at their facility as is the common practice among many other mechanic shops. Being so much in the hole before work is done makes one compelled to spend the remaining balance to finish the work at that shop. I understand that is the point, but I feel it is not a fair business practice. If you need more than minor maintenance work on your car as was the case with me-that is, if you really need some serious work done on your car to get it to run (e. g. multiple hose changes, transmission, engine work, trap oxidizer, steering, suspension, or the combination of the above, et, I would suggest you ship your car to LA (where luxury cars are common, so mechanics have to keep their rates reasonable in order to compete in a market saturated with other luxury mechanic shops), get a hotel and lay out on the beach while you get your car worked on. That way, you'll still have money left over. You'll be bankrupt going to this place. Not only bankrupt, but also lied to, talked down to, and screwed over. At least the facility is nice. Yes, it's nice. As though it matters. A nice facade to detract from their dishonesty.
