I had reservations through AMEX. I am waiting in line watching the counter lady carry on a conversation with her friends. Finally the friend sees my daughter and I standing in line and ushers us to the front. I am totally chill because I am headed to Hawaii for 2 weeks. Saved $1100 in flights by renting a minivan and driving to LAX.
After going through the booking process the lady behind the counter tells me that they do not rent to locals and that I am only allowed 150 miles on my rental. She tells me that it is in the contract. I ask her if she is serious that they don't rent to locals...
I think they were out of cars as there were two other people who walked away with nothing.
I get on the phone with AMEX and they tell me that they have had issues with EZ. Fortunately they were able to get me with a reputable rental car company.
Methinks they should change the name of the business to BS rental cars!
Lesson I learned: Spend an extra $12 and go with a company that is legit!
One more thing, girl behind the counter needs to get a shirt that fits her... you know what! Pretty classless to go along with poor customer service, maybe that does it for some people, not for this guy.
