| - First of all, I don't know why Katie was complaining about the area. I find that once you get a block or so away from the Mac's (which this store is) I cease to have any issues (and I live less than a block from this store, so I'm in the area daily).
Now as far as the store itself goes, it's very run of the mill. If you've ever been in a small, independant liquor store, this is pretty much the same as all of them. Not great, not terrible. The selection is pretty much what you'd expect, and the prices are fairly standard.
The one saving grace of this place that made me give it a positive review is the staff. I haven't been in there too often, since I'm not a big drinker, but the few times I have the guys have been very accomidating and friendly (including one time they let me borrow their phone to call a locksmith when I was locked out of the building, and then allowed me to just hang out for about a half hour til the guy arrived so he could call to let me know he was there. That's the kind of friendly service you almost never encounter downtown. In fact, they were the fifth business I tried, and the others practically laughed at the idea of letting me use the phone in the first place. So if nothing else, they deserve props for being good people.
As far as liquor stores in this area go, there aren't really too many options, but unless you're the type who has a certain brand of wine you're fiercely loyal to (in which case, you BETTER be willing to drive to find it) this place is just fine.
