God, I wish I could give this place a better review! The atmosphere and the idea of it is so fun and unique and I was so excited to be going to a place featured on the show Man Finds Food. The first time I went here was 8/30/15 with a small group and I had so much fun! The Frank Sinatra singer was fun, the magician that came around to each table was entertaining and the eggplant parmesan was the best I had tried in Vegas.
WHAT WENT WRONG: Visit on 12/10/15
My parents were visiting from MI and I couldn't wait to take them to Capo's as part of an early Christmas gift. This would be my second time there. We made reservations on a Thursday night around 7:30 p.m. thinking it wouldn't be too busy. We arrived 10 mins late due to traffic and when we got there they still didn't have our table ready. The inside of the restaurant was uncomfortably hot inside and there are no windows to let in the air. We had to wait 15 mins standing by the bar because there were no seats available at the bar and I felt like I might melt from the temperature. There were a couple tables open and I'm not sure why they weren't offered to us. When they had our seats ready, we had to wait another 15 mins for our waitress Ashley to arrive. It was really strange we were waiting so long when we had reservations.
We ordered our food and I made it really clear to Ashley that my mom was vegetarian (I even told her she had been a vegetarian for 40 years) and wanted the VEGETARIAN meatball. Our entrees came and my mom started eating her food and said, "this tastes like beef." I tried a bite of it and felt sick the rest of the night. We couldn't find our waitress anywhere to alert her of the mistake. My mom said, "it really seems like we're not getting any attention at our table tonight." My dad ended up flagging down a busser to tell him about the mistake. The order was sent back to the kitchen and the meatball was corrected and we finally saw our waitress again. We told her about the meatball and I also had to ask for a basket of their complimentary bread because she hadn't brought any out when we were seated. By the time my mom's meatball and the bread basket arrived at the table my dad and I were finished eating and my mom had to eat alone - we didn't get to enjoy Christmas dinner together :/ I've never received a bread basket at the end of my meal before at any other restaurant. My mom also felt sick from eating the beef and we didn't get our waters refilled once. I felt awful.
The only reason I didn't give this place one star is because the guy singing the Frank Sinatra hits was attentive to us and made my mom smile. We left him a big tip. I really wouldn't recommend this place at this point. I work at a local hospital in Vegas and I see firsthand the damage food poisoning/food allergies can wreck, plus the wait service was REALLY poor.
This place is too far from the heart of Vegas to make it worth venturing out to for the low quality and the price. I don't recommend this place to anyone any more, esp. if you're a vegetarian or have a special diet. For good, quality Italian food/better service, I recommend Ventanos. It is where I will take my parents the next time they are in town. I really regret having a Christmas dinner at Capo's.
