  • This review is a little late in coming... In May, my guy and I took the Lake Erie Scenic Route out to Huron for some kickin' hamburgers at this place right on the beach. After burgers, we went for a walk on the beach where he got down on one knee and proposed. Beautiful ring, it was his mother's. I jammed that sucker on my finger. Beautiful, but snug. On our drive back to Cleveland we called every jeweler in the book asking about getting it resized - every single place told us that they were closing and wouldn't be able to look at the ring... and even if they would, it would take two weeks to resize it and return it. Disappointed, we decided to call one last place - Emerald City Jewelers. They were closing in 45 minutes and it was going to take us 30 to get there. They were welcoming and inviting and gave us a good humored, "As long as you make it before closing!" We made it. One of the salesmen looked at the ring and after hesitation gave us a rough ballpark of what he thought the resizing would be - an incredibly fair price. He said that barring any unforeseen circumstances, we could probably pick it up tomorrow. The next day, I got the call to pick up the ring and received an apology - the estimate was going to be more because due to the rings age and wear the price would be slightly higher because the settings had to be tightened so the diamond and rubies wouldn't fall out... but the price was still incredibly fair and not far off from the original estimate. The work was beautiful and the ring fit perfectly. And I had it with minimal waiting. I could show it off to everyone! But the entire takeaway from this whole situation.... 1. They were speedy 2. The work was good. 3. The price was disgustingly reasonable. 4. This is the most important part - working in a jewelry store, I cannot even begin to fathom how many engagement and wedding rings pass through their doors. How many congratulations they pass on to customers and how many bridezillas and bridezillas-to-be that they encounter. But each and every person we talked to seemed to care about how important this was to me. They were sincere and cared and were respectful and even though I knew the things I was asking them for were probably ridiculous and out of line (coming in 15 minutes before close... asking for the resize ASAP) they were nice and good natured and had the kindness not to squash my excitement by trying to reign in my ridiculous demands - they tried to meet and exceed them. Even now I am still wowed by their service. I know where we will be getting our wedding bands from!
