I'd heard good things about Mr. Jerk but seeing is always believing. I always order the same thing: a curry chicken roti, rice and peas with gravy and a dumpling and the taste never disappoints.
The environs are gritty, but when the food can stand on its own like that, it's all good. Dives like this typically have the best food. The curry reminds me of my childhood as does the warmth and friendliness of the owner. One of my favorite things about Mr. Jerk is the motley crew of people lined up inside awaiting their next yummy meal...every colour; every flavor. Now, THAT'S Toronto. A real gem in the city.
I would prefer my food be warmer, but I always get take-away so I warm it up again when I get home.
