| - Honestly, the #1 reason to write this review is that Yelp keeps pestering me to write it. So here goes...I have been a member for 20 years, dating back to when I lived in Miami. This review is for the Concord Mills location only. Over the years my buying habits have changed, and so have the products that BJ's offers. It used to be bulk only, now it's more geared to family use. You can still find the 5 gallon size green olives, but now you can also buy them in the small grocery store size (just in a 2 pack).
What I don't like about BJ's is their change in coupon policy. They used to accept 1 manufacturers coupon per upc, plus a BJ's coupon. Now they limit you to 4 coupons per item total. Example- 12 pack Bounty paper towels. Old days, you could use a .25 coupon on each roll, since they are all individually wrapped. Then you could add the $3 BJ's coupon on top. Now by limiting the total coupons on an item to 4, you can only use 3 of the .25 manufacturers coupons, plus the $3 coupon. Lost savings of $2.25. I'm a couponer, so those lost savings matter to me. They shouldn't matter to BJ's, they get reimbursed for the coupons anyway.
What I do like about BJ's is just like at Trader Joes, there are a few items that they offer that can't be beat price wise. Usually you have to buy these items in bulk, but if you use them often, that isn't a problem. I like their meat selection, but prices are barely any better than Publix or HT. Of course their gas price is usually very fair, and they have free air for your tires.
Every September I debate if I should keep my membership, I always decide to pay for 1 more year. We'll see this year what happens.
