  • Hotel's fine-clean with friendly staff. Ho hum, in a good way, I guess. But what about their 5:30 Kickback. You know, their free happy hour??? Let's get into that, shall we? From 5:30-7 PM every evening they have for their paying guests free hot (and cold) food and cold beverages, including beer, wine, mixed drinks and soft drinks. Bottomless booze? Uh, no, but you get three drink tickets to use in 1.5 hours. And let me just say, once 5:30 hits, you better be downstairs in their little "kickback" area with drink tickets in hand and your eye on the time. It got a little crazy with a lot of people trying to take advantage of this deal in the slotted time. It was so crowded some didn't have a seat. So, on to specifics. I added a photo of their drink menu from December 2017. As you'd expect, it's not top shelf, and there's not a great variety of wine, but it's a decent section. They also have Great Lakes (Cleveland brewery) on tap, not just the Bud Light mentioned. The pours were pretty small. Not sure the exact amount, but I took a photo of a beer and wine poor using the salt and pepper shakers for size reference. And no, they weren't giant novelty shakers ...I wish.... Food. Eh. Very eh. We were there for "Make Your Own Beef Tacos" night and I hate to say it but it was pretty gross. The meat, rice, beans-all mush. They also had hot dogs, a nacho station, chili and a small salad bar (mixed greens lettuce-a "spring salad", I think) with baked potatoes for the poor vegetarians. I actually went the vegetarian route myself after I tried to create chili cheese nachos and couldn't trick my brain into swallowing it. I will say, this set up is probably great for families with kids-easy, quick, basic food. Now, I did say it got a little crazy, but the staff was ready for it and no one went hungry or dry. Or complained about running out of time. Just not having anywhere to sit.... It all felt a little rushed and as soon as it was 7 the place was empty. So, don't pick this hotel for their fantastic free happy hour. Do the math first. You'd probably have to beat a hot dog eating contest winner to get a return on investment. All kidding aside, I'd rather just hit a local restaurant for cocktails and small plates, but since I was staying here regardless of amenities, why not "kickback" with a few baby beers and some lettuce....
