| - We had our food to go so this review so I can't speak for the dining in experience. We came across this place on one of those nights were nobody feels like cooking and after attempting two other Italian places that were listed as open on Yelp but turned out to be closed, we found Nora's.
Al Prosciutto Pizza - 4 Stars. Think a combination of regular run of the mill pizza with better ingredients. The crust wasn't super thick or super thin, def. not the artesianal-type but not chain-style either, rather just a nice middle ground. It had very little - basically no sauce or cheese as the first layer. The crust had been brushed nicely with olive oil and perhaps a light dusting of parmesan and large slices of sun dried tomatoes. The arugula and Prosciutto were added after baking but while the pizza was still hot, giving the greens a nice bit of wilt without being mushy, then more parmesan sprinkled on top. The only down side to this pizza was just too much garlic, and we actually like garlic, but this just had a bit too much. Deduct one star for that. I wouldn't want to have eaten it on a first date! If we ordered again we would just ask to hold the garlic. Other than that, great pizza. We had plenty of leftovers.
Spinach, Gorgonzola and Farro Salad - 4 Stars. The farro was nice and tender and topped with a generous portion of fresh spinach. The salad was rimmed with large slices of fresh, firm tomatoes and topped with crumbled gorgonzola. The salad losses a star due to slightly too much dressing for our taste. I would ask for dressing on the side next time, but other than that, a really nice, fresh and simple salad.
Rigatoni Special - 4 Stars. I wouldn't likely order this dish again, but that is because I don't happen to care for most of the meats in it, not that is wasn't good. The pasta was cooked to a nice texture and the sauce had a good flavor. A nice red sauce with just enough oil and spice to give it a little kick. The amount of meat in the dish was generous and the meatballs were flavorful and tender. The Italian sausage slices were what you'd expect, but if that's a flavor you like, then you'd be pleased. The sautéed green peppers were sliced very thick, making it so you could really taste their flavor as opposed to be little diced pieces you might miss in the dish.
Pasta Fagioli Soup - 3 Stars. I didn't care for this dish so much. I felt it was lacking in a bit of taste - maybe some salt or something. It had a generous amount of beans and pasta, and the pasta wasn't mushy, so I'll just chalk this up the fact it just wasn't quite my thing, not that it is bad per-se.
Bottom line, the place was pretty good and the prices were right. We'd definitely eat here again and check out some other menu items.
