The beef and tendon soup was to die for. Strong herbal flavors (especially Thai basil), savory and spicy enough to make me sniffle constantly, and melt-in-your mouth large pieces of beef tendon. The best part of my meal. I didn't order it as any spice level; it just came out pretty darn hot. And I'm still craving this from my recent week-long stay in Vegas.
I tried the northern Thai dish with young jackfruit curry (I was trying dishes I hadn't seen before on menus); it was homestyle tasting and actually disappointingly bland. I'm a jackfruit nut; I didn't really think that the young jackfruit would taste like canned artichoke hearts -- but they really did. I was hoping for a pungent, sweet, spicy yellow curry I suppose (fresh ripe jackfruit). My mistake. I ordered this "pretty hot", though, and it came out very mild.
A James Beard nominated chef, I would love to come more often to find more of the "hits" on the menu like that beef & tendon soup (OMG). I was also tempted to get that dish with the pork blood cubes... Anyhoo, definitely a regular stop for me whenever I go to Vegas from now on. Reasonably cheap prices for what you get, too.
