My wife had never been in a Subaru so on a quiet Sunday morning stopped in to a local family owned dealership to let her see if it's something we should consider as our next car. I Was honest and clearly stated several times to the salesman we had no intention of purchasing a car that day. After hearing the "what will it take to get you to buy it today" speech we told the salesman we weren't buying today and he insisted on giving us a price anyway. We sat through the sales pitch and told him we would get back to him in a few months when we were actually ready to purchase. Pleasant so far.....All was well until a few days later when in the middle of a busy work day I get a call. The salesman asks if I was ready to bring my trade in to get a trade in value. I explained again I wasn't interested and not even sure I was trading it in. Thats when the "car salesman" came out. I was berated for not bringing my truck in to get a value, told it was unheard of to actually test drive a car I wasn't interested in immediately purchasing, had my words twisting and thrown back in my face. Overall, one of the most unpleasant non car buying experiences I have had and I currently own 3 new cars. I would most likely have purchased a car from them before the tongue-lashing. Not now!
