You know of the story where a vegetarian walks into a restaurant called MEAT and Potatoes expecting to NOT eat potatoes? Yeah, me neither. But it happened when I had a couple people visit from out of town and Butcher and the Rye was sold out (not that that name is any more appetizing, ha!). So yeah. They wanted to go to a "nice" restaurant and the three $$$ seemed to fit the bill.
I ordered fried brussels and mushroom flatbread - mission accomplished! While it was a little sad to make a tiny dent in the bill while actually paying for my carnivore visitors ordering the likes of Wagyu Flat Iron, I was happy to see them satisfied with their meals. It helped that the service was impeccable and the ambience was not as stuffy as some other places that take themselves even more seriously.
While I won't be returning anytime soon, you should check the place out. I imagine that if you and/or your friends like the name (in a non-metaphorical sense) and enjoy good service, it's a pretty good place to be on a weeknight (can't speak for the weekend scene).
