  • I hate to criticize anything about my beloved Fate, but in all fairness, I have to join the chorus of reviewers who have lodged complaints about the hostess. We actually got into a little tiff on Saturday night. Doesn't she know I'm her biggest fan? I will try to abbreviate: We had reservations; half of our party arrived 7 minutes early; we checked in with the hostess, and she said (in a really snarky tone) that she couldn't seat us until the rest of the party showed; reasonable policy, unreasonable way of relaying the message. She also said the policy was to only give the rest of the party 10 minutes to arrive. I said since that would make them only three minutes late, how about we just wait until that time and then re-evaluate? She said (again with the attitude) that we could wait at the bar next door. I thanked her, and we waited right smack dab where we were, for 5 minutes, at which point the rest of our party showed up, and we were seated 2 minutes before our reservation time. No lecture necessary, Ms. Hostess. I also don't like the bathrooms. The colored lights freak me out. I want tofu, people, not a rave. But I do so love the food. And the downtown location. Still four stars.
