  • Three stars is probably spot-on for an aggregate score of this place. They are in the airport but they are an extension of one of the popular local Mexican places. That said, I probably would have been far happier had time allowed me to go to one of their other locations. I could sense a much higher level of cuisine when reading their menu than what arrived at my table. I secured a table after a wait of less than 2 minutes. Securing a server took quite a bit longer. There was a waitress who showed up after I had been sitting there for about 5 minutes but she walked right past me and proceeded to lean against a fixture behind me. I turned around and asked her if she was my server. She wasn't. She didn't approach my table, didn't ask if she could be of assistance and didn't offer to find my server. She just leaned. I asked her to assist me with finding my server and she offered me a seat in her section instead. I was settled, my bags were settled... I just wanted to be introduced to my server. With much reluctance, she finally pointed her out. Thanks. When my server was table-side, I told her I can't eat jalapeños. No problem - we can prepare almost anything you want without them. I selected an enchiladas dish and asked if it could be prepared without jalapeños - she said the dish doesn't have jalapeños. It arrived with something on the side that looked a whole lot like it contained jalapeños. Her answer: it's on the side, you should be fine. Should, huh? I had the enchiladas with shrimp. There were six small cheese enchiladas with a beautiful sauce and four decent size shrimp perched on top. The dish was beautiful. Sadly, it arrived barely luke warm and the waitress vanished. I could tell that this would have been a killer dish in one of their real restaurants but it was flat here. The sauce was creamy, cheesy and just slightly salty with that great mouth-filling taste that you get when you bring goat cheese to the party. I wished I had a few tortilla chips to scrape up the remainder after I finished the enchiladas but chips don't come with the meal at this location. The shrimp were cooked just about perfectly but lacked a scampi flavor as the menu had promised. The tortillas were slightly hard around the edges... not sure if they were stale but it seemed likely. I really, really wish that I had the opportunity to try their food in one of their real restaurants. I don't know that I will be back in Phoenix anytime soon but getting to one of their real locations will be my first dining priority and I will do so with an open mind. Unfortunately, and the other Yelp reviews bear this out, the only thing this location is doing is besmirching their good name among travelers.
