I was originally told on the phone a sliding glass door would be between $2000-$4000 and asked if that was in budget. The lower end number was in budget.
Sales person came out and gave the pitch. "After knowing what you know now, do you feel like Universal Windows is a company you'd trust to work with? Do you feel comfortable with Universal Windows working on your home?" Pitchy. Stop trying to sell like this. Talk to me like a person.
Suggestions were made that didn't make sense. Not many options were offered/available. Project was quoted around $4200 - This was way over budget and over the number I was told on the phone.
I said "well this quote is a little cheaper than another window company" and the salesperson continued with "ok well since you're good with the price, we can get your installation scheduled etc etc" No, I didn't say I was good with the price, I said it was cheaper than your competitor...that's not a confirmation that I want your service. It's still overpriced.
Also, I'm not sure why my husband and I both had to be home for this pitch...seems like a sexist (out-dated) sales theory. What if I'm the bread-winner and I make the financial decisions? - Why would he have to be there? I don't need my husbands permission for a project like this. Also, I'm not just some dumb woman. I've installed doors with my family; I'm pretty knowledgeable about home construction projects and I know roughly what a project like this should cost me.
Just sayin'...
