| - This is a cute little shaved/snow ice place located in Chinatown, in the same plaza as Raku. Parking gets kinda hectic at times, due to all the restaurants in there, but I've always been able to find a spot with some circling around.
The store seats like around 15, so I can't imagine how crowded it gets in the summer. We went on a rainy Saturday afternoon, and there was a small line that moved quickly.
With three other people we shared a large size of the mango special and added mochi and mangoes as toppings. The large was the perfect amount for four people. The mango special was mango infused shaved / snow ice, with pineapple chunks, and condensed milk (the snowflake sauce). I liked it a lot, but four stars bc the special didn't come with mangoes as a topping. That don't make no sense! Toppings were good though. Mangoes and pineapples were chopped up real small (a good thing), and mochi was awesome (soft, chewy, and "fresh." some "old" mochi that's been laying around will have hard/crusty outsides but this didn't).
Also I didn't like how they served the shaved ice. Anything other than a small is too much for one person, but the bowls for large and the next size up make it awkward for sharing. Traditional shaved ice places serve shaved ice on a plate, mound the shaved ice up like a small mountain, and it's way easier to share that way. Am I being picky? Yes, but there's a reason why people serve it the way I described.
Also four stars because there wasn't any of the traditional shaved ice specialty combos (like all this in one combo - red beans, mochi, boba, taro, condensed milk). They had taro flavored ice, green tea flavored ice, Etc which sounded great and I'm sure it tasted good. But I was hoping for a throwback to the original shaved ice toppings too (you could make your own but that would be pretty expensive).
Service was friendly and place was clean. In spite of my criticisms, this place was definitely awesome and I'll definitely be back :)
