| - I would certainly love to give this place a high rating. The staff is very friendly and helpful, the restaurants pretty decent, and the location is great! I've stayed here before and had a good experience so when I came back the second time I expected the same.
Unfortunately, I had to try three rooms before I found one that worked that didn't have weird stenches! The first one had a very strong musty odor, the second one smelled like rotten curry, and the third was OK.
Although they were very accommodating, this place is seriously lacking on a few fronts. The rooms are a little bit small, which is a problem with most hotels in uptown. The rooftop pool doesn't have a great ambience, but a rather industrial feel.
Breakfast is not included the way it is in many other Holiday Inn properties. You have to go to the restaurant, which doesn't open until 630 in the morning. If you were here for business, that's a problem. It also cost 15 bucks to eat the breakfast buffet which isn't anything special.
There is some kind of executive lounge, which for some reason I did not qualify for even though I'm an elite IHG rewards member.
I'm never impressed with fitness centers in hotels, but this one is particularly lacking! You do have the option of paying $10 per day to work out at GoldsGym across the street, but who wants to do that after paying $200+ per night for an average hotel!
The parking is a bit wonky, and it isn't very clear how and where to park if you haven't been here before. Unfortunately this is at the corner of two one-way streets so if you miss the turn you have to go several blocks out of your way in order to make it happen. The valets were very nice and helpful, but the whole process seems like a bit of a pain in the ass. You can get your parking validated and placed on your room bill, but why don't they just give you a card like they do at the Hilton? Instead you have to bring your parking pass with you, get it validated at the front desk, and then go to your car.
All in all I'm sure he would stay here again, but I will definitely check other places first. I would definitely recommend other properties here in the uptown.
