I am trying to support my local businesses since moving to the east end a few years ago; it made sense to seek out a new eye doctor too and I had my first visit here a couple of weeks ago.
The office is a no nonsense, basic eye doctor's office supporting just Mr. Petrou. Talk about independent!
I felt like my exam/experience was preformed professionally, that Petrou is warm, friendly and competent. $75 for the exam is a good value. Also, I was seen on time.
Since I had worn contacts in the recent past, there was no charge or extra examining to make sure I was still a candidate; my suspicious is that my old eye doctor used this as a convenient way to make a few extra bucks.
My trial lenses arrived by order within a week and I have placed an order for a 3 month supply. ($145 for daily disposables--probably cheaper at the contact mail order place but ordering from them doesn't keep my local businesses in business)
The selection of eye glass frames is pretty limited; you are probably better off somewhere else.
Note that the hours are also limited--I think Tuesday is the only day when they do not close at 5pm.
If you need an eye exam, and live near the Danforth, I highly recommend Stavros Petrou.
