| - I went to The Local Tavern last night with my family & neighbors because we heard they were hosting a "bike night" and wanted to check it out. While there wasn't a great turn out of motorcycles (it's new...I'll give it time), the rest of our experience made up for the lack of Harleys.
Our waitress was pretty spacey, but I'm pretty sure it was her first day, so I'll give her a pass. She mixed up drinks and didn't really know the menu yet, but she double checked every question we had with someone else (I'm assuming a veteran server or the cook or someone) so even if our response took a little while, we knew it was correct. I really liked that because some new servers will just make up answers to avoid looking inexperienced and then you're disappointed.
The food was great. I ordered the tavern meatloaf and it can with spinach, mushrooms, and mashed potatoes. DELICIOUS. The glaze tasted like a nice sweet BBQ sauce and the plate looked great. Nice to see they pay attention to detail!
My dad and step mom both ordered wings and they were huge! I tried one of my dad's wings in the garlic parmesan dipping sauce and it was awesome. Creamy sauce, crunchy breading, tender chicken...I definitely know what I'm getting next time I go in (because yes, there will be a next time!)
I'm only giving this visit 4/5 stars because in my opinion, our server was not ready to be out on the floor on her own yet. Management needs to step up and pay someone to train their servers instead of throwing them to the wolves. Bad service can kill a restaurant.
I was also a little surprised when the kitchen manager came to our table and informed one of my neighbors that the broccoli advertised in one of their nightly specials wasn't available. In my opinion, if a specials menu is written that morning, there's no excuse to be out of an ingredient. Had it been a weekly special, I would have been more understanding.
Overall, the food was the redeeming factor of the night. Everything was delicious and I didn't hear a single complaint from anyone at my table (except for the lack of broccoli).
