You can buy running shoes almost anywhere, but only at Road Runner can you analyze your foot and running style through their Shoe Dog system. As a recreational runner who has run only a handful of races and prefers my treadmill over the street or trails, I found Shoe Dog to be a very helpful tool in helping me find the exact shoe I needed. Because of this, I would recommend Road Runner and Shoe Dog for other beginners or those who find they are having pain after running. Expert runners won't need this analysis, which is primarily used to sell their custom insoles.
I found the exact shoe I needed and paid for the custom insoles so that I could continue down the right path of my new found hobby, but it cost me $200. The major drawback of Road Runner is that they do NOT advertise prices anywhere and they don't discuss cost of anything but their VIP program which they are constantly pushing you to buy. I understand the up-sell, but would have appreciated a little more transparency in my purchase as I did not intend on paying that much. Now that I know what shoe works best for me, I will likely buy future shoes at other stores.
Overall good experience, but more expensive than necessary.
