I recently found myself purchasing a $500 guitar pedal unit, second hand, that operates on a 19 volt DC adapter only, no batteries(AC). Much to my consternation, the adapter was faulty and broke within a week. I began to inquire with other musicians as to where I could purchase an adapter, all told me that it was difficult to find a 19 volt adapter. Some told me that it was a 19 volt adapter because of proprietary rights and that I would have to replace it directly from the manufacturer of the unit and that it would be costly. I began to fret (no pun intended).
Then an electrician friend of mine suggested that I try a place in Montreal North called Addison Electronic. It was a little out of the way for me but I eventually went and to my surprise I was able to purchase a brand new 19 volt adapter for the grand total of $6.70. I could not believe the price. I was worried that I would pay an arm and a leg for a replacement adapter, if I would find it at all.
