| - My husband and I like to eat fresh, local food as much as possible, but it is nearly impossible to 1) find a great selection of local fruits and vegetables in chain grocery stores and 2) not spend a ton of money.
Enter Bountiful Baskets.
We have been participating for a couple of months now and absolutely love it. Without exception, our baskets have been filled with really fresh, really good food, and a lot of it. You cannot beat the price for the amount of food and level of quality -- really. We've tried both the organic and regular baskets and both have been fantastic. It's amazing how truly inexpensive it is for what you get.
The first time you sign up, it can be a little intimidating due to the fact that you really don't have any idea what to expect. But when we showed up at our pre-arranged location (down the street from where we live), the vibe was so friendly and it was so well-organized (using volunteers, even!) that we immediately felt at ease. And once we unpacked all our goodies at home... well, it felt like Fresh Food Christmas.
They don't require a contract, so if you know you can't pick up a basket on a Saturday morning, you just don't sign up for that week. You aren't spending money for something you can't use. There is a LOT of fresh food, so if you're worried about whether or not you can use it all, go in with a friend or family member. It's worth it!
