They do not tell you about the requirement to have insurance until you are just about to sign the lease. When I made my reservation online, I was not informed about the cost of insurance and it was not calculated as part of my move-in cost. The minimum amount of insurance you can purchase is $3000 for $11 per month. If this requirement had been plainly stated on their website, I would not have gone through the trouble of renting a space. I had based my decision on the price that was quoted without the insurance. It seems that if your items are damaged or lost while in their building, Public Storage passes the liability cost to their customers even it may have been their fault for the damage. Why should I pay for insurance if their building is flooded or catches on fire? I think their website is somewhat deceptive.
