For the last few nights I have noticed a tow truck coming into the apartment complex while the office is closed. Thinking that it was odd that, that many cars were in need of service I made a mental note. Fast forward to this morning at 1:30am. My car is not parked in the handicap spot I have used for the last 4 years. I call the police initially and there was no report that it was towed. I called the tow company and I was towed because my handicap placard is not visible. I never take this down even when driving and I know this is illlegal. I have a condition that prevents me from remembering things sometimes. The man Baker on the line told me to get my car out it would cost $364. But if I waited until 8 it would go down about $100. My assumption is that the apartment staff has made a deal with the tow company. This is just another drop in the bucket for reasons not to rent here. I have done my research on the legality of taking cars at night. I have a dryer that does not dry my clothes. I have a laundry room door that has come off for the 4 time. I have not used my second shower because the temperature can not be changed from fire of hell hot. Every year at lease renewal there is an increase. There is no loyalty.
I will be seeking legal counsel if what I believe to be true is proven in th e morning. Per Nevada statute, you can only tow a car from private property if the office called in specifically to have a car towed.
There is a rogue tow truck in the parking lot every night for the last week. The security guard that is spoken of and had been seen in the past is no longer around. My neighbor's apartment was broken into. My other neighbor's car was hit by a maintenance worker on his golf cart which I witnessed.
Apparently towing cars that have legitimately have parked in the handicap spot is more important than our safety.
There are more complaints like the water heater busting above my apartment and no one returning to see my unit for damages. The door was so swollen we could not open it. There was also a flood in my apartment in which the plaster got on my furniture.
Please think long and hard about trying to survive this.
I hope I can write back in and state this was resolved. However, my hopes are not high.
