| - I love BMV. I've been coming to this specific location since I was a very little kid-whenever I've lived outside of Toronto it's always a stop for me when I visit. The prices are unbelievable. It's very, very hard to find a new copy of a book for $6-it's hard to find a used copy of a book for $6-and this is the place to do it. I read voraciously but am also always on a budget, and BMV makes it so I'm able to continually stock my shelves without spending tons of cash.
BMV is best for new copies of classics, psychology books, Canadian lit and art books, I'd say. The queer section is lacking, as are new releases from contemporary writers, but you can't do everything at the excellent prices they maintain, I suspect. The third floor is incredible if you're into comics (a little less so for graphic novels but I've found a few I've been looking for), and the basement is great for vintage VHS, CDs, et al. The hours are also excellent-open till 11 or 12 most nights, which is lovely when all you wanna do is spend a quiet night browsing and not have to rush in before or after dinner.
If you're a book lover and want to bring home 4+ reads to the tune of $30, BMV is unmissable. Everyone should visit!
