My friend and I live in the East end and used to go to the West end for good food and drinks. I'm so happy to announce we won't have to go there anymore. Eastbound Brewing is amazing even if it's not yet brewing its own beer. We sat at the bar and watched our bartender shucking the oysters while chatting us up. Of course, we had to have those oysters (from New Brunswick) and they were good! The beer selection had fascinating names (Broken Hipster, Octopus Wants to Fight, Bolshevik Bastard) but I chose a rather mild name (Mountain Lager from Sidelaunch Brewing) and was satisfied. The menu was short but interesting. Aside from the oysters, we had the chicken wings and herbed fries. Everything was good. Will definitely come back to try the other items (braised ribs, for one!) The place was packed by the time we left, but never at anytime did it feel crowded or harried. I think the best comment I heard was that the people who work there are happy. And that is contagious.
