| - I think I've gone to Melmira for bras for a decade plus and, before they consolidated them under one roof, I also bought bathing suits from their other store.
I always end up back here after I've given up trying to find anything elsewhere. I always think I can find something discounted, but then I always realize "ya get what ya pay for."
APPOINTMENTS
I recommend making appointments or calling ahead if you are going on the weekend or evening. Though, they can usually accommodate me most of the times I've just walked in.
Don't expect to go here and browse. They have a display of lingerie detergents and tiny panty station in front that you can look at some sizes in drawers, but that's about it. Expect that you will have someone assigned to you who will give you honest recommendations. That's why I think you should consider an appointment.
ART - STOREFRONT & CHANGE ROOMS
I have to admit that I always walk by slowly to look at their super creative window displays. They also have some fun paintings in each change room that a staff member made that depict famous women who have influenced lingerie.
Each change room has good lighting, a comfy chair. They remind me of a table you'd sit at to do makeup before Broadway show. I like the long counter in front of the massive mirror so I can spread out the bras into likes/dislikes as I try them on.
I always seem to go into the same room, so if all the rooms are that small, there's not much room to bring kids, moms or sisters along into the change room. They do have a few chairs out by the cashier, though, where they can hang out.
I like that you have to walk quite a way back into the store before you get to the dressing rooms, so no one is going to accidentally peek into your room. They have full doors, not just curtains that are a pain to fully close the room off. There is a larger area in the hallway just before you get to dressing rooms where you can presumably show what you're wearing to a more private audience (say underneath a wedding dress or ball gown for a fitting).
SERVICE
I have always adored the women who help me try on the bras, but somehow they always manage to get a host/cashier (maybe manager) who is snobby and not personable. They NEED a host who smiles warmly and sincerely to get 5 stars. More importantly, they need a better host to make women feel comfortable right before they disrobe in front of a stranger. I normally might dismiss this as just a bad day for the girl and not bother to comment about it, but this persistent problem has spanned the decade.
The shop reminds you of a couture type of shop. It is fairly sophisticated. They offer something to drink (usually water) before you get started. It would is the perfect place if you were trying to find something for a special occasion. The staff know their inventory and can find solutions like they have for me on several occasions.
Staff always announce themselves before coming into or returning to the room. VERY professional!
BRAS
They actually have bras for busty women; normally, it can be a nightmare to find a brick and mortar store who does.
Their bras are not cheap. I have not seen anything under $70. I would say $70 - 100 for moderate quality bras that will last you 2-3 years. It is more like $125 for top of the line starting range.
They have T-shirt bras (sleek and don't show texture through a thin white T-shirt), not just fancy, lacy, textured lingerie bras. Of their "fun" bras that I have seen, they tend to be more classy instead of raunchy.
SWIMSUITS
I recall swimwear is $100-$200. Their swimwear is premium quality, so that is somewhat fair.
SPECIALTY ITEMS
They can arrange for alterations to be made, which I LOVE. They will get foam padding sewn in bra cups (swim wear or regular bras) to either add volume or shape. Such a wonderful services --- especially if someone had masectomy or is uneven.
