  • Unfortunately I don't really have options of going anywhere else. I bought a house and it's the first house I've ever lived in that needed gas. I had my SRP and water turned on same day, no problem. SRP was done online, received a text message 1 hr later letting me know I was good to go, called in for my water, received an email letting me know I was good to go a few hours later. I didn't have to hang around the house or do anything special. Now SW Gas, I tried to sign up online, it wouldn't permit me to and forced me to call in. I sat on hold for 10 minutes and finally got a rep who told me they noticed I wasn't permitted to do it online and they wanted to check why. Really? You want to check why? I don't care why at this point, just do it by phone since we're talking. She puts me on hold, 5 minutes later she comes back, "I don't understand why it wouldn't let you, everything seems okay. But let's get you set up." I give her all my information and she tells me I'll have to sit at my house all day long, 7am to 4:30pm, possibly even later because the Gas company will work late into the night until every single call is complete. I had to take a day off of work so I can sit there for would could possibly be 12 hours if they decide not to show up until the sun goes down. I asked if there was anyway they can give a courtesy call to let people know they are coming 30 minutes in advance, or even 10 minutes so that I can lock up my dog, make sure I'm not showering, or in case I'm in the backyard doing yard work. The phone rep told me flat out, "No, we don't do phone calls, you need to wait around the house all day." With all of today's technology I find it hard to believe they don't have any sort of system set up that tracks the houses they do in a day, and what house they are doing at what time so it can clock the amount of time it takes them per a house. Wouldn't it be nice if they clicked in their computer for their next assignment and when they did that it sent out a generic phone call or text message letting you know they are heading your way? Or I'm sure everyone now days has a cell phone, the company can't shoot you a quick text telling you they'll be there in an hour or two? And hey, if you don't show up it's your fault, not the companies because they warned you. But nope, they want people to take an entire day off of work and sit at home the whole time desperately waiting for them to show up. Cause what a better use of ones Paid Time Off. I'm pretty sure if SW Gas had competition they wouldn't be treating people this way, but this company is all there is so they can do whatever they want, lucky me, and lucky Phoenix. Thankfully I'm going to see what I can do about getting my water heater switched from gas to electric so I don't have to deal with these people ever again.
