| - Heard about Atomic #7 from Nelson Q last year, but I am rarely in that part of Las Vegas so visiting them required some pre-planning. After my training class let out at noon, I decided to hit up Chick & Benny then Atomic #7 (both on the SE side of LasVegas).
The day was super sunny and very warm (109F), so I was really looking forward to trying out ice creams made with liquid nitrogen from scratch, and just for good measure for the sake of writing a well rounded review, I had a large Molecular Mango smoothie.
The ice cream was good, the ice crystals were very fine and the texture was excellent. Price is high, but it does include a live food demo. And if you have little ones, the icy "smoke" is sure to capture their attention. But parents and guardians should not let their guards down, as I did observed in horror a little boy falling backwards off the bench as I was having my ice cream.
The smoothie was refreshing, but even with all of the healthy and fresh ingredients, I thought it was just okay and pretty close to the smoothies I get at other places.
I think Atomic 7 is a must try at least once kind of specialty dessert/snack destination. It is a a fun and facinating way to enjoy a cold snack, especially on a typical melt your tires hot day, and a great opportunity to get in a little science lesson in the process.
Location is relatively far for me, so unless I am in the area, I probably will not drive 30 minutes to stop by here just to get the customizable science lab ice creams.
