My friend and I decided to try this place tonight before seeing a show at the Benedum. We had made a reservation for 5:30pm but we were stuck in traffic and running late. My friend called the hostess at the stand to let her know and she was very friendly. She thanked her for calling and said no problem we will hold your table. When we got there, we were seated right away and we were immediately served water at our table. Our server, Jordan came over to let us know the specials and answer any menu questions. She was very pleasant and knowledgeable about all of the food they offered and even made great suggestions for us when we weren't sure what to order. We ended up getting the Pinot Grigio sangria to drink. It was tasty and went down a little too smoothly lol. They also serve you an assortment of breads with infused oil which was my favorite part of the meal-so good! We ordered the calamari appetizer to share and it was good but I wasn't crazy about the dipping sauces it came with. My friend ordered the pork shank for her entree. She absolutely loved her meal, said the meat was tender and flavorful and falling off the bone. She enjoyed the dipping sauce it came with as well. I had the seafood bucatini. I did love that the noodles were cooked Al dente. The sugar snap peas were also cooked perfectly-not too raw but not mushy, just right. The shrimp, mussels and crab were also cooked well. While I did enjoy my entree for the most part, it wasn't really over the top and definitely not the best meal I've had downtown. I was expecting more. I do have to say that the service here was definitely wonderful. Our server was very attentive and friendly and so were the other employees. We may return for dessert and after dinner drinks but there are just so many other restaurants in Pittsburgh to try.
