| - Very disappointing.
First the ambiance. It's extremely loud, almost to the point of not being able to hear the person across from you. Tables with no cloths and paper place mats. That seems to be the thing with a lot of Vegas steak houses now, charge premium prices but present a coffee shop atmosphere.
None of that is as important as the food, of course. We both love steak tartare, so we ordered that for the appetizer. It was loaded with black pepper. So much so, that frankly, that's all I could taste.
Then a 50 minute wait for our main course. At about 40 minutes I was getting irate and was just about to go complain when the general manager did stop by our table to apologize and say our food would be here shortly.
When the main course did finally arrive, the wagyu filets we both ordered were both cooked perfectly, and were melt-in-your-mouth delicous. I ordered a lobster tail with mine, and it was small and chewy. The sides we ordered were average, not bad, but nothing great.
The service was friendly, but very poor. Our server seemed a bit...how should I say this...out of it. Whenever she came to our table she had a huge smile on her face, as if she just a heard a hilarious joke. But if I asked her a question about something, she didn't even respond, as if she didn't hear me. I know it was loud in there, but you would think she could see me looking at her with my lips moving. Because of the 50 minute wait (during which we never saw her, by the way), we had finished our bottle of wine before the steaks even arrived, so I ordered another glass with our main course. She finally brought it with desert. Along with our coffee. SIgh. Speaking of desert, it was fine, once again nothing special, but pretty good.
$460.00 with tip for the two of us. That included a $120 bottle of wine. It was just not worth it. Craftsteak is much better, and Delmonico is much much better.
I'm baffled at all the rave reviews. Maybe we just hit it on a bad night? Or maybe a lot of people have just never been to a really good steak house? I mean, yeah we did get the free french fries too, and they were tasty, but really, they're just french fries people
