| - It's been years since I've eaten at a GC, so I was surprised to see this location have only a 2.5 Star overall rating.
While I'm sure that the service can be a hit or miss, I found our server to be very attentive and the food rates 4 and 5 Stars with no problem (I did go for the Early Bird Buffet).
I started out with a Spinach and Greens salad, with Mushrooms, Cheese, Ham and Blue Cheese Dressing. The greens were in perfect condition, and the cheese and ham was fresh. And, the Blue Cheese Dressing! OMG, now I'm not a fan of BC Dressing, but this dressing was fantastic!
Then, it was on to some Mexican Rice, a Tamale, Pinto Beans and a piece of Sweet Corn Bread. Again, everything tasted great!
Then, I had some Mashed Potatoes, Gravy, Sauteed Mushrooms, Smoked Pulled Pork and Pot Roast. The potatoes were creamy, without being runny, and the gravy was seasoned perfectly. The pork was tender and had a noticeable smokey taste. But, the mushrooms and Pot Roast! Another, OMG here! The potatoes and vegetables were tender, without being overcooked and the roast melted in your mouth.
Then, it was time for desert. :) I had some Bread Pudding, Apple Crisp, Banana Pudding, a small piece of Chocolate Cake, a Brownie, and a freshly dipped Chocolate Strawberry (how freshly dipped? I dipped it myself in the Chocolate Fountain (a real surprise to see this in a buffet, as I've only seen it once before in a very nice restaurant years ago). Other than the Apple Crisp (use to be be my favorite desert. But, this time, there was not as much filling as I remember, and it was a bit too caramelized for me to really enjoy it), all the desserts were delicious. And, I was extremely surprised at how good the chocolate was in everything. WOW!
Well worth the money, and this place is back on my list of regular stops when I'm dining out.
