  • May look kind of ratchet from the outside since the Atrium on Bay is pretty sketchy and the produce on display are usually not super fresh, but I really like this grocery store because it's located within the PATH (right before you enter the Eaton centre if coming from the north - UofT - like me) and it's actually super AFFORDABLE. I walk through the PATH almost everyday now that the weather has gotten much colder and The Kitchen Table is the only grocery store that's conveniently located indoors and student-budget friendly (vs. Marche, Saks Food Hall, etc). They don't do student discounts or have membership discounts (also no airmiles), but I often find their fruit much cheaper than at Metro or Sobeys downtown. Here, apples or oranges per lb = $0.99, grapes per lb = $1.99, ripe avocados = $0.99 each compared to apples or oranges $1.99/lb at larger grocery chains, etc. Vegetables are hit or miss in terms of price - can be very cheap depending on what's on sale. However, nothing here is very fresh... Produce rarely gets to the point of moldy and carbs are definitely not moldy, but hope you don't mind wilted looking vegetables and overripe fruits. Packaged and frozen items are significantly more expensive than at Metro, etc, so don't buy your cereals, snacks, frozen dinners, cheeses, etc here. They do have a yummy looking self-serve meal bar that charges by weight I believe. To the very right of the store they have hearty same-day packaged hot and cold meals (e.g. burgers, sandwiches, pasta salads, rice and chicken) that are $5-10. Especially the sandwiches, which can be huge and under $5. Bottom line - Recommend it here for frugal and lazy people living in the Yonge-Dundas area since food here is cheaper than Longos and convenient location. Give this place a chance, look around the entire store. Don't come here for quality or freshness.
