  • You! Hey you! Drop your latte and doughnut and get yo self to Burn Boot Camp. If you look through my review history you will take note that I frequent many different gyms. Mega- gyms, boutique gyms and specialty gyms. Knowing that I've seen most of them, believe me when I tell you Burn Boot Camp is where you want to be when you sweat it off and work it out. I took the very first class offered at a pop-up Camp last August. I knew then and there that Burn Boot Camp was something very special. The Trainers are encouraging and supportive. The fact that the owner & head trainer take the time to know every single person who walks through the door by name is impressive. You will be given a high-five and an infectious smile during a 3'ish minute warm-up, regardless of who is leading class. You get two full weeks of unlimited 45 minute boot camps free!! They offer free childcare, which seems pretty nice, although I have no need for it. Camp times range from 5:30am to 6:30pm. There is a camp time that will generally work for most women. The Trainers take their time to ensure each person in the class knows how to do each exercise to receive maximum benefit. Modifications are offered for each move, but make no mistake, it doesn't make the exercise easier, it just makes it not as strenuous on your joints. Modifications are also offered for advanced exercisers. Planks too easy? Do plank jacks instead! The temperature is kept at a comfortable 72-76 degrees so even though you work really, really hard you're not going to feel "hot", unlike some other gyms I've tried. The floor is a gymnastics type floor that gives when you walk on it. Merely walking across the facility will activate muscles on this unstable surface!! Yoga is offered Tuesdays, Thursday's and Saturdays. The Yoga instructor is intuitive to the classes needs at the moment. It's usually a vinyasa class, but she has been known to switch to a restorative class after particularly grueling workouts. Although Burn Boot Camp is geared toward women, the 5:30 & 6:30 pm classes do allow men who are just as challenged as the women! It's true that membership is higher than at a mega-gym, but it's on par with boutique gyms. I leave every class feeling proud of myself as invariably I've done one more rep than yesterday. Pushed a little harder than before. I've seen myself get stronger and healthier than when I started in earnest 7 weeks ago. If you watch their website or follow them on FB or IG you will see specials offered occasionally. Take advantage of them! Isn't your health worth the $3-5/day membership fee? Mine definitely is!
