Oh C-Train...what can I say about you? You've become the punching bag of Calgary and I don't know what I can do to help you out.
It becomes especially hard to appreciate the c-train once you've visited a city like Vancouver. The fact that the train goes above ground through downtown Calgary seems like the most ridiculous thing in the world. Why should a train be dependent upon traffic lights. It simply slows everything down. It is even more frustrating once you realize that there are actually tunnels already built under DT Calgary, they simply don't use them.
It is also annoying that the ticket machines don't give change, nor do they accept debit or credit cards. You have to have exact change. And I don't know about you, but I'm not a fan of wandering the streets of DT Calgary late at night trying to find change.
Lastly, if you've never been on a proper subway the best part about them is that they are underground. You'll especially appreciate this when the temperature dips below -10 and you are waiting on the C-Train platform for what seems like hours.
Someday the Transit Authority will stop being so defensive and just give us Calgarians the transit system of our dreams....someday.
