| - The Luxor has an Egyptian theme. The fact that it's shaped like a pyramid made it fascinating to me, so we decided to stay here and see what it was all about. At the entrance, there are statues of Egyptian gods and Anubis. This is also the entrance where you can catch a taxi or Uber. In addition, if you are planning to walk the strip, this is where you go to be on the strip. There are huge statues of everything Egypt throughout the inside and outside of the hotel. It's a very cool place to walk around and site see. You can also walk through the hotel to do some shopping at the Shoppes at Mandalay Place, which is inside Mandalay Bay Casino and Resort. There are a variety of stores and restaurants to choose from, so trust me, you will not get bored.
The Luxor has a variety of restaurants to choose from. My favorite, being a foodie, was the buffet. It was loaded with a good variety of food, fruit and desserts. I was at the buffet two days in a row! LOL! The Blue Man Group and Criss Angel Mind Freak performs at the Luxor if you are interested in those shows. If you walk across to Mandalay Bay, you can catch the Cirque du Soleil Michael Jackson One show. I hear it's a great show, so I do plan to catch it on my next visit to Las Vegas.
As wonderful as the hotel is, there were a few cons that we encountered. On our first day, we could not connect to their Wi-Fi. It kept giving us a "connection error." Overall internet connection sucked in our room. Very disappointed with this because our phones have become our entire lives. On our second day, we were able to connect, but it only connected us to the unsecured section, not the secured Wi-Fi the front desk gave me information on. Again, very disappointed because even that worked sporadically. Moving on... One towel per person in the room. Ummm no. I don't wash my face and my body with the same towel. More towels please. At least two towels per person. The bed was extra, extra firm. Much too firm for my fiancé and me, and he likes a firm bed. After two nights we were both complaining that our sides and back was hurting. The elevators are raggedy and need to be replaced. We were on the 14th floor and we were sweating by the time we got there. Please put some air conditioning in the elevators. Also, most of the time, the light inside the elevator that tells you what floor it's stopping on wasn't working. When the elevator stopped on 9, the light said 6. Let's get these elevators upgraded ASAP! What's interesting about the elevators is that they don't go straight up and down. They zigzag and you can feel it too. Your body will lean to the left, then lean to the right. It's pretty cool. I think it's because of the shape of the hotel.
Overall, our stay at the Luxor was good. The rooms and elevators could use some updates before I stay here again. Hopefully, that will happen in the near future. At least the price is right, it's located on the strip, so it's close to everything. Not such a bad deal.
