I was very excited to try this place out while I was in the area waiting for my car to be worked on.. I ordered the pad thai added chicken & shrimp, a bit expensive but glad I added them as the meat ended up being the only part of the dish I liked! The noodles were too sticky and there was SO much sauce, anytime I tried to eat the noodles the sauce went flying everywhere. The sauce was also WAY too sweet. I couldn't eat the noodles due to excessive sauce and there were too few bean sprouts. ): I ended up eating just the shrimp, chicken, & bean sprouts.
My boba was yummy. It was supposedly mango flavored.. It had a very faint taste of mango but I liked it.
A nice man approached me (I believe his name was Mike? He never told me and I didn't ask him. But the cashier told me as I was leaving) and asked how my dish was, when I advised him that it was too sweet for me and the texture was different he had advised me that they don't use a wok to stir fry the noodles.. I'm no expert but I thought pad thai was traditionally cooked that way? He said they were working on tweaking the recipe. He even went as far as to test out my suggestions in the kitchen and bring me back a small bowl to try it. It was still too sweet, but less saucy and I would have preferred it over what I was originally given. He also gave me a coupon for my next visit. (:
Sobas definitely has some improving to do but I think they'll be a great place once they work their kinks out. The staff is very personable!
