I have never had such an awful customer experience like I did today. First: I ordered my lunch and paid for it. The woman at the register who I believe is married to the owner (wears a flower in her hair everyday) asks "is this order for here or to go?" I reply to "To go!" (because every time I eat here I always have to ask for a box to take out) Once my food is ready, I find an open table and begin enjoying my lunch. Soon after, a line is starting to form for the lunch rush and the woman behind the register passes my table while delivering an order to a nearby table. Much to my embarrassment, she stops at my table and says out loud enough to gain the attention of most of the surrounding tables which were full, "Sir, I am going to have to ask you to leave. You have a to go order and to go orders MUST leave. I was in shock and asked her to re-think again what she was saying and further explained that I am a paying customer and I have to leave because I ordered my meal to go. She replied "YES!!!!" I again gave her a chance to rethink her logic and asked, "So if I had ordered it for here, I could stay and you would have delivered the food to my table on a plate (which would now be dirty and requires cleaning?" She replied with "Sir I don't need customers fighting over tables, as you can see we are very busy and your order was to go so please leave. " I asked her if I could get her to explain it one more time while I get video of her explaining this nonsense and she then retracted to say, "OK If I have a customer who wants to sit here you may have to get up and go but you can stay for now." As I look around the restaurant for reactions I am met with turning heads in embarrassment and a couple of shaking heads (in shame) from some teenagers at a table close by. I am convinced she is having a bad day but this really makes me shake my head in disbelief. What would you do? I'd lover to know what others think about this woman's (business owners) decision.
