| - My girlfriends and I decided to go to Elmwood for a girl's R&R. I have been there twice and both times have been good experiences.
We booked massages with Registered Massage Therapists and they said we could go early to enjoy the amenities (Lounge, whirlpool, steamroom, and pool).
When you arrive, after checkin, you go to the second floor change room and you are handed flip flops and a bathrobe. You pick your own locker and set a number combo so no key or locks are required.
Then we made our way to the third floor where the amenities are located. There is a lounge area with magazines, water, apples, steam room, whirlpool, and a pool. The large steamroom was out of order the second time i went so we were stuck in the smaller steamroom that can only accomodate 4 people if sitting upright.
So when the time came, i went to the 4th floor where my massage would be held. I was given a large room with a fireplace the second time. I had Frankie who i get along with great. I like to chat so he chatted with me while he did the massage. I told him specifically what areas i needed to be worked on and he followed my instructions.
Once my massage was done, I used the steamroom again and then it was about time to go. The locker doors seem to get stuck sometimes so the trick is you have to push them inwards as you put in your combination. Otherwise if that doesn't work, you have to find the staff to get them to unlock the door for you.
The change room is very clean and has plenty of showers, water, fresh apples, hair dryers, lotions, curlying/flattening irons, and a machine that spins your bathing suits dry. The water pressure in the showers are good.
One of the handles on the shower was broker so i had to hold it while i showered on the first visit. On the second visit my shower was fine. They provide shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and lotion in the shower stalls. The lotion is great. All products provided are top quality. You just need to bring a bathing suit, any face creams/lip balms, and hair brush. They provide shower caps, q-tips, hairspray (cheap kind), razors, and shaving cream.
So overall the experience was good. Check in the first time is tedious as you need to go through a touch screen survey which takes about 20 minutes but on repeat visits, check in is fast. Check out and payment is also quick. The RMT themselves provide you with an official receipt for insurance. A 50 min. massage was $110.74 plus tip.
Its not exactly amazing in terms of the premium you get charged and that its supposed to be considered somewhat higher end. Going up and down the levels can be tedious. But given its convenient location and parking for $4.75 at Atrium on Bay next door for the whole day (you must bring your parking ticket with you to get a stamp when you checkout), and that its clean with good products, you can't really go wrong if you live downtown or want to shop at Eaton Centre afterwards.
