The wife and I got an unexpected night off together..what to do? We both decided a cold beer sounded good and maybe a simple bite as neither one of us was starving. We decided to check out The Main Ingredient in Phoenix.
I had never visited the old space but love the way this space feels. Some large, family style tables with a smattering of quaint two tops as well as the bar provided ample seating options. We chose a small table for two in the corner next to a candle-lit fireplace.
The menu is simple but thoughtful and seems to rely on local ingredients. I had the Calvano sandwich and my bride had the Seasonal salad. We shared the Artichoke appetizer. The Calvano was delicious and I'm slightly embarassed at how quickly I ate it. Equally scrumptious were the appetizer and salad with the portion size being perfect.
One of the coolest parts of the place was the beer and wine list. I know my fair share about booze but there were some options I had never heard of, much less tried before. We ordered three different beers and were pleasantly surprised at the quality and variety.
We will absolutely be coming back, oh and did I mention this was only on their third day open?
