| - Last weekend, I was in Toronto for a large conference. It was being held at the Sheraton, and I stayed there as well. I got a conference discount rate of about $200/night (pre-taxes), so I'm not sure what the normal rates are. The hotel was huge, like a small city. The bottom levels join the Concourse, which has a large number of shops. In the hotel, there is a place that serves only breakfast, a cafe, a bar/restaurant that serves food all day, and tons of conference and meeting rooms. There is also a waterfall courtyard in the middle of the hotel.
My room was really nice- it was on the 33rd floor and had an awesome view of the city. The king-size bed was huge, but the pillows were a bit too big and fluffy for me to sleep on comfortably. The bathroom was standard.
Everything in the hotel was ridiculously expensive. Internet costs about $15/day, or $6 for 30 minutes. I bought a medium soy latte and a croissant at the cafe in the lobby (which brews Starbucks coffee), and it cost me just over $9. Breakfast room service for hot tea and 2 eggs/bacon/potatoes/toast cost $40 with delivery fees, automatic gratuity and an extra buck or two for extra tip. The same breakfast in the bistro downstairs cost $30 with tip. The bar/restaurant in the lobby seemed a bit less pricey. I had two lunches there- a burger and an iced tea on Saturday, and chicken fingers appetizer and a Stella on tap on Sunday. It was moderately priced, tasty, and the waitresses/bartenders were nice.
When I checked out, between all the large food costs and internet costs, my bill was much larger than I expected. If you ignore the cost, though, the hotel was really nice, the front desk service was great, and it was in a very convenient location.
