  • I am breaking my long streak of Yelp silence (oh, the busy life of freelancing!) to tell the world how much I love Phoenix Coffee. Yes, I will admit I have a closet weakness for overpriced coffee chains, mostly due to convenience, but given the choice I would much rather chill at a place like Phoenix, where I can drink from a giant mismatched mug, listen to music or poetry at an open mic night, and meet some cool new people. Their house coffees are always great, and their specialty coffees are also amazing... I had a pumpkin latte thingy recently and it was DELISH. I recently was lucky enough to win a raffle for a pass for a cup of Phoenix coffee every day for 6 months... and though there isn't one super close to me, I frequent the Detroit Avenue shop every chance I get! The only thing about this particular Phoenix is that it's kinda small, so if you go when it's really busy, you may not find somewhere to sit. But the coffee's worth it anyway. Rock on, Phoenix. You tell those chains who's boss.
